Great Traders: Fascinating Facts About Bill Lipschutz

Last time around I wrote about the fascinating life of George Soros. Today I have decided to write about another famous Forex trader – Bill Lipschutz, whose life is certainly as interesting and eventful as George Soros’ is:

-An avid tennis player, Liptschutz initially earned a Bachelor's degree in Fine Arts from the Architectural Design program at Cornell University and only later earned an MBA in finance from the same university.

-His first investment was the $12,000 worth of different stocks he inherited from his late grandmother, which he had to liquidate and consolidate the equity into one location.

-He managed to turn these $12,000 into $250,000 after only a couple of months after extensive research about the financial market, but later he lost all of it and decided to move from stock trading to Forex trading.

-Through his wife he met economist Henry Caufman and joined the Salomon Brothers Wall Street investment Bank in 1982, before even graduating from university.

-At the height of his career as a trader Bill Lipschutz earned $300 million per year for Salomon Brothers.

-While working at Salomon Brothers Lipschutz became one of the top five Forex traders worldwide. In 1988 he became a director in the bank and in 1989 he was appointed as the Managing Director and Global Head of Foreign Exchange.
